If you’re here, I bet you want to elope on the Oregon Coast? You’ve done the research, “Traveled” there already on Google Earth, and saved all the TikTok and Instagram posts, right? You’ve got a couple of beaches in mind, and you like Cannon Beach the most. Well, I’m gonna say something unpopular…don’t do it!!
What? I know, I know, but hear me out. Skip Cannon Beach and pick an Oregon elopement location that fits you. Click here to learn how I’ll help you pick the perfect location. Learn Here

Ask yourself these questions: Why am I eloping instead of having a traditional wedding? What are the most important things I want to experience? Did any of your answers include: I don’t want to be the center of attention, I don’t want to deal with tons of people, I want an intimate experience with just my person, I want it to be stress-free and chillaxed? If any of these were on your mind, you need to skip Cannon Beach. A more intimate location is right for you and I have just the spot in mind.
Yeah, Cannon Beach is stunning. Its soft sand and towering haystacks are gorgeous. Don’t get me wrong, definitely visit Cannon beach when you’re on the coast but don’t plan your elopement there. On any given day, the beach is packed with locals and tourists and their dogs, maybe even an on-lease cat from Portland. Kids run in and out of the surf and families build sandcastles and structures with the driftwood. It’s loud and more than a little bit overwhelming
Finding a private space to exchange your vows is so important and having a dog run up to you may be fun any other time, but this day is so special! Which is why I always encourage couples to explore other beaches. Oregon’s coastline spans about 360 miles and every beach is publicly accessible! Each beach has its own beauty and there are definitely some stunners! Some are even prettier than Cannon Beach, but without the families and frat boys.
For instance, check out Cape Perpetua. This rocky beach is in the Siuslaw National Forest and features unique coastal formations you cannot find anywhere else. Cape Perpetua Scenic Area
Its diverse terrain is perfect for adventurers. In just a five mile stretch you can experience natural wonders like the Spouting Horn and Thor’s Well and then retreat to the rainforest. It’s perfect for watching the sun set over the waves. In fact, there’s a stone shelter made just for that purpose. Stone Shelter

How about Ecola State Park and Indian Beach? A wide array of landscapes and wildlife, including bluffs, whales, forests, and free roaming elk are right here. A short trail from the park leads to Indian Beach where you can privately explore haystacks, just like Cannon Beach has. From here Cannon Beach’s is in the distance, but the crowds are also far away. Fun fact: they filmed parts of The Goonies on this beach, so bring your bikes!

Still not convinced? OK.. lets talk…
The pictures you’ve seen on Pinterest are edited by talented photographers who have digitally removed all of the distractions at a popular beach. Sure, they look amazing and if we shot there yours would too. But every time you look back at them, you’ll be reminded of the kids flying kites between you and the water or the dogs chasing each other around you. Nobody wants a hectic elopement. That’s not Oregon Chill.
You’ve put so much time planning the elopement of your dreams. You want each image to take you back to that moment. You want every shot to evoke the surf spraying on your shoulders, the scent of massive Douglas Firs, and the feel of mossy trails under your bare feet.
This isn’t just about getting married and having jaw dropping pictures, eloping is about experiencing every little piece of an adventure. It’s about every side glance and windswept moment. I want you to have an elopement where you can have a beach all to yourselves and still visit Oregon’s Instagram famous sights.
