How to Elope on the Oregon Coast

You’ve made the decision to elope and you know you want to honor your love in a wild and beautiful place. Now what?

You’ve decided to elope on the Oregon Coast, but don’t know where to start? You’ve imagined the salty sea air and coastal breeze but planning it all feels overwhelming. If only you knew a local, right?

Hello, I’m Kim! As a local elopement photographer and guide, I help couples plan intentional, intimate experiences beyond the typical beach spots. I know the tides, weather, hidden locations, and trusted vendors, so you don’t have to stress. Want help planning? Check out the Oregon Coast Elopement Packages

Where to stay:

The coast gets busy in summer, so booking your stay early is key. Choose from Airbnbs, cabins, yurts, luxury resorts, or even glamping. A few favorites along the coast:

Heartland Treehouse: Perched between two massive fir trees overlooking a steep river canyon on the central coast.  Sounds of a nearby waterfall will soothe you to bed at night and gently wake you in the morning.

Hobbit House: The Hobbit House is nestled on over an acre of private woodland in Bandon. Relax on the patio, listening to the birds or the ocean, or take a stroll around the property to explore the scenic trails.

Hallmark Resort & Spa: Oceanfront resort with spa services and elegant rooms on Cannon Beach.

Cannon Beach Hotel Collection: Historic boutique lodging with multiple uniquely styled rooms and cottages.

The Headlands Lodge & Spa: Luxury oceanfront lodge next to Cape Kiwanda with private balconies, fireplaces, and soaking tubs in many rooms.

A-Frame Cabin by the Sea; Big Cedar Cabin is a cozy A-frame located on Oregon’s central coast in Yachats. Just a short 10-minute walk from the ocean, it’s a peaceful retreat in a wooded setting

Cabin in Tillamook: Enjoy foggy mornings in the hot tub, adventure during the day and spend sunsets by the fire pit.

How to plan your timeline:

For your elopement on the Oregon Coast, I always encourage a full day or multi day package. The coast is expansive and you want to make sure you have the time to get to all your locations. To be honest, 4 hours is not enough time to do all the things my couples want to do; hike the coast, hang out on the beach, have a camp fire, and more. Your timeline is one of the most important parts of your day. I help couples create a flow that feels natural, allows for spontaneity, and puts you in the right place at the right time. Here’s an example of a central coast timeline:

  • 6:00 a.m. → Sunrise walk on Oregon coast beach. Just the two of you soaking in the first light as you watch the sun rise.
  • 7:30 a.m. → you get coffee at Dream Machine Coffee in Yachats & getting ready at your  Airbnb Cabin
  • 9:00 a.m. → Hike the  Whispering Spruce Trail on the Cape Perpetua Overlook for a first look in the Siuslaw National Forest.
  • 10:30 a.m. → Hike to the overlook to exchange vows & make it official. We’ll stop at the stones shelter but I know a lookout where no one goes.
  • 1:00 p.m. → Get a bottle of wine a charcuterie board from Bayside Cellars and have a picnic on the beach
  • 2:30 p.m. → Head back to the Cabin to cut your cake  and sign the wedding certificate.
  • 3:00 p.m. → Spend time together taking portraits & exploring the beach, tide pools, and natural wonders at Thors Well.
  • 4:30 p.m. → Head to Pelican Brewery in downtown Yachats
  • 6:00 p.m. → End the day with a bonfire on the beach & a champagne pop.

What to do on your elopement:

This is where it gets fun. Whether you’re adventurous or laid-back, there’s something for you:

  • Explore tide pools in Newport at Yaquina Head
  • Go hiking in Lincoln City at Gods Thumb
  • Go whale watching in Depoe Bay
  • Build a bonfire on the beach and make smores or hot cocoa
  • Go hang gliding in Pacific City
  • Wander coastal towns like Yachats or Astoria

A word of caution…

Many popular spots get crowded. Places like the Newport aquarium or lighthouses can take away from the intimacy of your day. Instead, consider more private, experience-driven options like a helicopter ride or a curated beach bonfire. I make sure that you don’t elope in a spot where there are tons of crowds. My couples and I prioritize quieter and secret beaches no one knows about.

Your elopement deserves to feel effortless and deeply personal. I’m here to guide you through it all while capturing it in a way that feels true to your story. Oregon Coast Elopement Packages
